Dear ladies and gentlemen, representatives from the press,

I would like to thank you for coming here. It is with great honor that I announce the commencement of the formulation of the new National Strategy for development of the Forestry in the Republic of Macedonia, as a contribution towards the formulation of the new National Forestry Policy.
Today is the first step in this process. An announcement will soon be published in the media requesting the public, organisations, and individuals to participate by submitting their concerns, comments and opinions regarding our National Forestry Policy and Strategy.
We are looking closely at the forestry sector and we understand what a truly important and valuable natural resource we have. We are looking at it in the context of international importance and contribution to sustainable social, economic and environmental development.
Once we embrace this opportunity and work together, I expect the process to give a successful result – the National Forestry Policy and Strategy approved by the Government.
Last but not least, I would like to express our gratitude to the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations for its active and important support of the process, which we highly appreciate.
